Preparing for the Spring at ParkFairfax

The Chili Cook-off is this Saturday, March 9th, reminding us that the warm weather is around the corner. With spring comes a greater focus on not just buying and selling houses, but the condition of our environments. We take to our yards for planting, weeding, and pruning. We may clean out garages, host a yard sale, plan a home renovation project, or get our house ready to put on the market. There are festivals, outdoor events, and many things to do in the community. By the time Day Light Savings Time rolls around, March 10th, most of us are weary of the cold and winter weather. Once those spring days come, we’re out the door and ready to have some fun outside.

ParkFairfax is a great place to live and enjoy all the benefits of this dynamic community. Not only does the community host events like the Chili Cook-off and Summer Concert Series, there are innumerable activities and events in the surrounding area. Being close to Old Town Alexandria, Crystal City, and Washington D.C., the choices of things to do on a beautiful spring day are abundant. Whether you’re out having fun or spending time improving your home, the warm weather makes everything more pleasant.

Some household chores are done frequently, and some only seasonally or annually. This is a good time to consider paying attention to some areas that may have been neglected over the long winter months. If you are looking forward to the warm weather to plan some household projects or get your house ready to sell, here are some tips to help you make the most of this wonderful time of year.

  • Clean Gutters
  • Replace Filters
  • Clean Out the Dryer Vent
  • Wash Exterior Windows
  • Test Smoke Alarms
  • Clean Outdoor Furniture

If you’re planning to put your home on the market, you will want to do a number of things to get it ready to sell. In addition to home repairs, deep cleaning, staging, and curb appeal, the March newsletter for ParkFairfax HOA has some reminders for residents who are planning to sell their homes in this community:

•   Make the office aware of any maintenance repairs that are the Association’s responsibility prior to marketing your unit. If you have questions regarding the Association’s responsibilities, please refer to the Bylaws on the Parkfairfax website: http://www.parkfairfax.info/content/ uploads/2011/05/Parkfairfax-Bylaws1.pdf. Any maintenance repair requests must come from the unit owner not a realtor.

  • Order your Resale Package by clicking the following link: http://www.parkfairfax.info/services/order-unit-resaledocuments/. Once the Resale Package has been ordered you will be contacted by the Covenants Director to schedule an inspection of the unit.
  • Open house signage can be displayed on Saturdays and Sundays only and all signs must be removed no later than 6 p.m. on Sunday. For Sale signs can only be displayed within windows and storm doors, not attached to the building or posted on the common elements.

As a ParkFairfax Realtor®, I’m very familiar with buying and selling properties in this community. Please get in touch to learn more about ParkFairfax and my services which includes an interior designer consult who also helps with suggested repairs.
